Ayat 19 of Surah Luqman (partial): “And be moderate in thy pace.”

In this, the dear reader will also discover advantageous information pertaining to Adab and Ikhlaq-e-Muhammadi (The divinely perfected manners of etiquette of the Holy Last Messenger, Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam) coming from a discourse upon Ayaat from Surah Luqman.

COMMENTARY: Be moderate in thy pace. Remember; be moderate when walking. Don’t just run unnecessarily. Don’t jump around and don’t just crawl at the same time. Walk with dignity and with moderation.

CONTINUATION OF AYAT 19 AND ITS COMMENTARY: And next comes talking and raising the voice. “And lower thy voice.” Don’t shout, whatever the case may be. Instead of shouting, go to the brother. Go near him or just call him, but don’t shout. Allah says: “For the harshest of sounds, without doubt, is the braying of the donkey.” Allah does not like shouting for any reason, unless it is an emergency. Remember, these are things for normal, daily affairs. There are exceptions that are there, but we are talking about normal daily affairs of life. So, do not shout. Instead of shouting, go to your brother whom you wish to come, or call him towards yourself in moderation. No shouting should be done.

DISCOURSE: Tell people that it is very important to understand Ikhlaq of The Holy Last Messenger (Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam), which was that he was very kind and full of love and tolerance toward others. He was always aware of the Presence of Allah Ta’ala and was the most humble person. Therefore people should be encouraged to keep his Sunnah, Khulq, and try to behave like him as much as possible. He was very kind to his family members and has even stated: “The best amongst you is the one who is best to his family.” Therefore, husbands should not holler and abuse their wives, and wives should not hurl insults and abuses at their husbands. Youngsters should obey their parents and parents should show love and affection to their children
