Islam lays great emphasis on unity in the Muslim Ummah. The Holy Quran strongly emphasizes the concept of Muslim Unity and Allah urges the Muslims to “… hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah, and be not divided”. This verse clearly outlines that contributing towards establishing unity between the Muslim Ummah is not just a credit worthy deed for a Muslim but also an instruction exclusively given by Allah to the believers. The believers must, therefore, undertake to work for achieving a unity between Muslims and for the formation of a larger Muslim brotherhood.

All worships and pillars of Islam, in one way or the other, help in the establishment of this unity between Muslims. Let’s begin by taking the example of prayer. Praying 5 times a day, i.e. at Fajr, Zuhr, Asar, Maghrib and Isha times, is obligatory for Muslims. Muslims from all places within a locality pray to the Lord at same time, and bow their heads in the same direction. This is a symbol of unity between Muslims while prayer. Further, praying in congregation is said to be preferable than playing alone, because the former establishes unity and equality among Muslims.

Now let’s take another example to substantiate our point. Zakat is another pillar of Islam, and it is given out to poor Muslims, as a percentage of the wealth or rich Muslims. Zakat, therefore, is meant to create a level economic ground for Muslims, which brings them together on all footings and unites them. Hajj, another pillar of Islam and a very important worship for Muslims, also propagates the same idea of Muslim unity by congregating Muslims from all over the world, and allowing them a platform where they can collectively discuss their problems and seek their solutions.

Just as all these worships, Ramadan and fasting in Ramadan also come as a great source of unity for Muslims. Ramadan is commenced and concluded by moon sighting (or calculation methods) and the month begins and ends at the same time throughout the Muslim country. This commencement and conclusion of Ramadan at the same time bonds the Muslims all over the nation together. Similar practices are observed and similar routines are followed by Muslims all over the country. By freeing themselves of material desires in Ramadan, Muslims afford themselves an opportunity to reflect upon the larger picture of the Muslim nation.

Hunger and thirst that a fasting Muslim endures brings him closer to the pain bore by the poor Muslims whole year. Mosques begin to fill by Muslims, and more and more meetings are held as religious sermons or Aftaar parties. This allows Muslims to meet each other and bond together strongly. In these meetings, religious discussions remind Muslims of their social and religious duties, and refresh their faith. Most Muslims pay their Zakat during Ramadan, which bonds the society together further strongly by bridging the gap between the poor and the rich.

If one considers all the rituals and practices followed in Ramadan, he will find that the impact of the month of Ramadan on Muslim unity and faith is enormous.

Members of the Muslim Brotherhood will take part in protests across Egypt to demonstrate against sweeping new powers taken by the ruling military council.

Over the weekend, the generals issued two decrees dissolving the Islamist-dominated parliament and claiming all legislative power for themselves.

MPs are also expected to try to enter the parliament building on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, with counting in the presidential election run-off complete, both candidates are claiming victory.

Mohammed Mursi, the head of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), said on Monday that he had won 52% of the vote.

Mr Mursi promised to work “hand-in-hand with all Egyptians for a better future, freedom, democracy, development and peace”.

But former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq’s campaign team said their figures showed that he was ahead and that the Brotherhood had “terrorised” voters.

Independent observers and state media believe Mr Mursi has won by a margin of about three to four percentage points, or about a million votes.

The official result is scheduled to be announced on Thursday.

‘Million-man march’

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (Scaf) appears to be working on the assumption that Mr Mursi will win, reports the BBC’s Jon Leyne in Cairo.

It has made a series decrees and appointments designed to reduce or constrain the power of the president, and entrench the power of the military.

Despite opposition talk of a “military coup”, it may end up being a messy compromise that everyone can live with, our correspondent says.

Voting over the weekend to choose a successor to Hosni Mubarak, who was forced to step down by last year’s uprising, was overshadowed by two Scaf decrees.

The first ordered the immediate dissolution of parliament following Thursday’s Supreme Constitutional Court ruling that the law governing the recent elections for the lower house was unconstitutional because party members had been allowed to contest seats in the lower house reserved for independents.

Troops were deployed outside the parliament building before the decree was issued on Saturday to prevent MPs gaining access. The FJP and the ultraconservative Salafist Nour party dominate both chambers.

The second decree, which was published after the polls closed on Sunday, amended the March 2011 constitutional declaration and gave the generals complete control over legislation and military affairs until fresh parliamentary elections are held.

The Scaf will also play a significant role in running the 100-member assembly that will draft the country’s new constitution.

The new president – who will take office without the oversight of a parliament and without a permanent constitution to define his powers or duties – will be able to form and dismiss a government, ratify and reject laws, and declare war, but only with Scaf’s approval.

Muslim Brotherhood members are set to protest against the decrees on Tuesday by taking part in a “million-man march” – the name they give for almost any demonstration in Egypt, our correspondent adds.

At the same time, MPs may attempt to enter parliament to protest against its dissolution. Soldiers have been given orders not to let them in.

Marriage in Islam is of huge importance. It is a sacred agreement between a man and a woman to be together in all times. The wed lock (Nikkah) allows the man and the woman to be together and grants this relationship a social, cultural, legal as well as religious/ holy permission to exist.

A typical Islamic marriage, one in which Islamic rules are being observed, is a symbol of love and unity. Islam prohibits dowry being obtained from the parents of the bride. The man is responsible for all the expenses. Islamic wedding parties are supposed to be attended by close family members and friends of the boy and the girl. This ceremony is supposed to be a simple one instead of being very pompous or elaborate.

Parents of the girl are to give only the essentials to their daughter. Hence it puts no economic or social pressure on them. This is different to Western traditions, where the bride’s parents are supposed to provide her with a dowry, as well as pay for the wedding.

Islam gives equal rights to man and woman. A woman has the right to file a divorce case under Islamic laws. Islam gives ultimate freedom to women by declaring that if a woman does not like her husband for some reason, she can get a divorce without further delay. A man is entitled to the same consideration.

A Muslim man is responsible for earning for the household. He is bound by Islamic law to keep his wife happy and comfortable otherwise the woman has the right to leave him. Again this varies greatly from the Westerner, who technically has to provide for the woman, but all too often does not. The Islamic system also propagates a separate family setup in which husband and wife are allowed to have personal privacy. In the Islam world, the husband has to be just in his relationship with his woman. This is despite the fact that Islam allows the man to marry four times but he must seek the first woman’s permission for it. It is allowed only if the man is capable of being just to all of them. In the Western world, this is forbidden and punishable in a court-of-law if the law of monogamy is broken.

Giving man and woman equal rights and conferring equal duties shows that Islam wants a house to be an institute where living together is not a compulsion. Living together should arise out of love and not be a compromise. Islam believes in love and pursues this aim in every walk of life with ultimate determination.

A desperate father complained to me about his son’s extra curiculler activities. He said: “My son prays five times and has no bad habits that can worry me. But he returns home late and does not get involved in domestic responsiblities. He is in college but rarely studies . At home he is occupied on internet chatting with unknown friends…Then the father exclaimed : He is a monk of a different type. A corporate monk.”

This type of complain may be burning in the hearts of many fathers and wives of today. Grown up men remain obsessed with the internet , news papers, watching serials and sports. They are away from the family affairs. They don’t find even talking to the family as interesting as the world affairs they chase.

A Muslim is suppose to be actively participating in multiple things. He is a father, a husband and a son at home. He is helping his neighbour. He visits relatives instead of just messaging them, “May Allah give you a quick recovery”. He is with his children in their school. He is with his mother talking to her. Inspite of this, he finds time for dawah, deen and duniya. You will find him in the front rows in masjid and also a very good businessman. He earns money and also he spends money. He gets up for tahajjud and also goes along with his family for an outing.

A corporate monk will not stay in a monestary far away from the society, but he is there right in the middle of the busy city. He goes home and stays there but like a paying guest who just givs the rent of his staying and remains away from the houshold activities. He is a piece of furniture at home, not responding to any need or call of domestic help. The ancient monks kept away from wealth, but the corporate monks chase careers and wealth. He is spending most of his time in either travelling or gossiping with friends or entertainment. Reports say that an average person staying in a metro city, spends only a half hour with his family. Some dont even get time to talk to their family. When they leave their homes, their kids are sleeping. When they return their kids have gone to sleep.

When Islam permits a man to marry four women it means it also expects this man to run four families. It also expects this man to give time and attention towards all the four families. It means that a man lives in soceity and finds time for society. Being busy does not always means ” I dont have time ” but it can also mean ” I will not give priority to this person, or work or responsiblity…..

When Islam does not allow monastisism, it also encourages its followers to be active in social life. Recall the famous Hadith: “The best among you are the one who are best to their families.”

Today in this fast moving technological world, there are many changes happened in almost everyone’s life and these changes are in Muslim’s too. When you have considered about the life of ancient Muslim people, they don’t even know about the advanced things that have been invented in this world. Since most of the inventions have made people to entertain their life they didn’t have interest in those things. This is because music had been considered as the thing against Ummah.

Muslim’s life today

Compare to the ancient Muslim people who lived their life by searching through books and other resources to know more things about Allah, today people have started to surf around the internet to know about the things related to Islam. Through internet forums and social networking websites people have started to discuss about the things that happened in Muslim’s life and still they want to find out somewhat ridiculous things with modern inventions.

When you have considered about the things that have been discussed through forums it would be off shame. This is because it is not the right thing to describe about the things that are related to any religion and also to give comments over that. Even though there are many technological have been made over the internet it is not the sufficient platform to discuss about all these things and also you have to be very careful while using out the social networking websites.

Using Facebook

Most of the people today have preferred to spend their time in social networking sites like Facebook, twitter and other websites, in order to increase the number of friends and also to share the things that they want to discuss with. When you have gone through Facebook to make friends there are many things that you need to consider before getting with that and those are as follows:

It would be better to avoid discussing the things that are related foods and other things. This would probably make you to end up with funny as well as comments that would hurt you

You should also have to be aware of the arguments that would badly describe the beliefs of particular religion

Because of all these reasons it would be better to go through the Facebook arguments very carefully.

When you have described about any particular religion that would probably make the people of that religion to think on ridiculous things that are related to it and hence there may be some contradictions too. Today there are many websites available for providing people with the best guidelines to come up with the Facebook arguments in a better way. You can go through that websites to know about the things that are related to Facebook arguments, in order to realize about your foolishness and also wasting your time with unnecessary Facebook arguments that would describe the particular religion.

There are also some websites especially available for providing more information on Facebook arguments related to Islam. You can also go with those websites to get clear about Facebook arguments.

Same-sex intercourse has the death punishment in five Muslim countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Mauritania and Yemen. This formerly carried death penalty inside Afghanistan beneath the Taliban plus in Iraq under the 2001 decree through Saddam Hussein. The lawful situation inside the UAE is unclear. In several Muslim countries such as Qatar, Bahrain, Maldives and the Algeria, homosexuality is punished along with fine, jail time and corporal punishment. In a few Muslim majority countries, such as Jordan, law doesn’t forbid in Turkey, Mali and Egypt same-sex intercourse. Nevertheless, in Egypt homosexuals have been the sufferers of jurisprudence against morality.

Inside Saudi Arabia, this maximum punishment of homosexuality is open public execution however; the government can utilize other punishments such as fines jail time together with whipping as alternatives until this feels that homosexuals tend to be challenging state authority through engaging in any LGBT rights movement. Iran is probably only the country to execute the biggest number of its people for homosexuality. Because the Islamic revolution of Iran, the Iranian authorities has executed greater than 4000 men and women charged with this homosexual acts. Inside Afghanistan after the drop of the Taliban, this homosexuality went from the capital crime to the one, which it punished with prison sentence and fines, plus a similar situation appears to have happened in Iraq.

The majority of international human rights agencies, for instance Human Rights Watch plus Amnesty International, condemn law regulations which make homosexual relations among consenting adults a criminal offense. Because in 1994, the UN Human Rights Committee also has ruled that these kinds of laws violated all the right to personal privacy guaranteed within the universal declaration from Human Rights as well as International Covent at civil and political legal rights. Nonetheless, (except for countries such as Turkey, which were needed to change their law regulations to become eligible to join European Union) the majority of Muslim nations persist that such laws and regulations are necessary to protect Islamic morality plus virtue. In the mostly Muslim countries, only exclusively Lebanon has an interior effort to legalize the homosexuality. However, several Muslims have mentioned criticism of the lawful sanctions utilized against homosexuality.

Reasons provided by Muslims condemnatory the executions contain the reality that several legal schools (such as Hanafi) regard this as unjustified the discussion that this death penalty is not specified for this in the Holy Qur’an; the concept that this punishment is unduly severe along with opposition to the concept that the state’s jurisprudence must be depending on religious belief. The introduction from the AIDS pandemic within the Muslim community has also promoted additional discussion regarding the legal status for homosexuality since the legal sanctions in opposition to homosexuality have made this difficult to initiate all educational programs directed on high risks groups.

Muslims have two great festival in a year , that is Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr after the month of Ramadan , That Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha considers as a gift of fasting whole month , Muslims Do that Because that is Allah’s for ummah of Hazrat Muhammad S.A.W .

History of the Eid al-Adha is different and really interesting; The Muslims celebrate that in the month of Zil-Hajj on 10th of Dhu’l-Hijja. Muslims for whole of the word celebrate this day in accomplishment and to commemorate the faith of Abraham. Allah gives name to Abraham in Quran khalil-ul-Allah, The friend of Allah.

Many years back Abraham was born in idol-worshipping tribe of Chaldea. At his childhood he was among the kuffar , But Allah had brightened his heart with the light of truth. That’s why He doesn’t adopt them. Clarity of his heart toward Allah revealed when he had dream that he was sacrificing his own son. Then for fulfilling the command of his Allah next day he sacrificed camels. And distributed it among the poor in the name of Allah, As Allah commanded him in dream. But on next day he dreamed the same, and he was bit worried because he had already fulfilled the command by Allah. But Next day he did the same he sacrificed camels again. And he prayed to Allah to accept that.

But one the third night he had same dream; he saw he was sacrificing his on son Ishmael. On that day instead of sacrificing camels he called to his beloved son and told him a whole story.

(The Quran: 37:102)

“O my son! I have seen thee being sacrificed in a dream; what sayest thou?”

His son had a strong believe on his father and because of that without any question he replied in yes. Yes father I am ready.

(The Quran: 37:102).

“O my father! Do what thou art commanded; if God please, thou wilt find me of the patient ones”

So Father and the son bother were get ready for accomplished the command by ALLAH.

They went far away from house on the hills side. Daemons tried hard to restrain him from this act, because that act was for ALLAH When he was going to cut the throat of his son, his eyes where close and he cut the throat but not of his son but a goat from heaven. They accomplished their mission to fulfill the command of ALLAH.

The concept of time management is highlighted by the holy Quraan in several verses. There is need to examine the subject of time management and the Islamic view point of the same for the good of Muslim faithful and the world at large. Success of any manager relies on how he uses time. Optimizing the use of time is usually said to determine the difference between success and failure. It is always acknowledged that those who care about the total time they have make great achievements in their lives but those who don’t always believe that the time they have is too little.

For the sake of time of management the following times occur in our day to day lives: creative time ( time spent on the process of planning, analysis and thinking for the future), preparatory time (this is the time for preparation that precedes the actual start of the work), productive time (this is the actual time spent in the actual execution of the tasks planned at the preparatory and creative stages) and the overhead time which is the time spent by the managers on the secondary activities touching on the future and success of the organization and its relationship with the environment and the society at large. An effective manager of time is one who knows how to utilize the above times effectively and efficiently as brought out in the holy Quraan.

The Quraan considers time as a basic blessing from God and should therefore be managed well. It describes time as the span of life, the extent of man’s existence and the platform of his usefulness, survival and gain. This affirms the fact a man who doesn’t manage his time is one that has no proper meaning to live.

Another critical concept of time in the Muslim faith is that the acts of worship ar allocated specific time and should be well managed. This aspect brings out the need for proper time management in Islam the Quraanic view of the same. The five daily prayers are very important and time for such should be well observed. The prayers always enable Muslim faithful to reinforce their bonds with the most high God daily. Proper management of such time is therefore very important in an Islamic perspective.

The observation of fasting during the holy month of Ramadhan is an activity that requires proper time management. The beginning and end of that event is usually gauged by observing the size of the resent of the moon. The time is very key in the Islam calendar and must be well observed in line with the Islamic perspective. Other activities such as going on pilgrimage to Mecca are equally important times to properly observe.

Management of all these times properly makes a Muslim life more fruitful and productive. There is therefore for Muslims all over the world to examine the need for proper time and the Islamic perspective of the same from the Quraan.

First it is clear that science without religion is lame. This were the words of the famous physicist and Nobel Prize winner; Albert Einstein. It is therefore prudent to analyze the Quraan to find out whether it is compatible or incompatible to modern science. The Quraan is a book with several signs (more than 6000) of which more than a thousand deals with science.

Astronomy is widely covered by the Quran. Firstly, the creation of the universe by the “Big Bang “theory is captured in Al-Quran 21:30. The Big Bang theory is widely explained by the astrophysicists and supported by observational and data from experiments gathered by the astronomers and astrophysicists for several decades. There is a great congruence between the Quraanic verse and the Big Bang theory since the Quraan was a book written about 1400 years ago in the deserts of Arabia
Al-Quraan 41:11 also explains the formation of galaxies from a celestial matter that was in form of a gas. This implies huge gaseous matter were present prior to the formation of the galaxies. The word smoke is used in the Quraan to replace smoke.

The spherical shape of the earth is widely captured in the verse 31:29. From history it is documented that Sir Francis Drake was the first person who discovered that the earth is spherical when he did sail around it in 1597. The Quraan verse confirms this by quoting that God merges night into daylight and daylight into night. This brings out the aspect of the rotation of the earth which is a confirmation of the fact that the earth is a spherical body. This is also confirmed in verse 39:5 of the Al-Quraan. In verse 79:30 the Al-Quraan confirms that the earth was made in an egg-shape implying that it is spherical which a true confirmation of the modern scientific facts is.
The fact that the light of the moon is a reflected light is also captured in the verse 25:61 of the Al-Quraan. Science stated that the moonlight is reflected light. This is affirmed in Quraan where the constellations in the skies are mentioned alongside a lamp and a moon giving light. The fact was mentioned 1400 years ago: a proof of compatibility of the book and modern scientific facts. This is also brought out in the verse 71:15-16.

The verse 21:33 proves the fact that the earth and other bodies rotate around the sun in their own orbits as confirmed by the modern science. The rotation of the sun around its own axis is equally brought out. The sun usually have a circular motion once every 25 days that is to say the sun takes about 25 days to move around its own axis. The verse 36:40 also confirms this fact. The verse mentions the existence of the individual orbits of the sun and the moon and their motion within the space.
The Quraan also mentions facts captured in modern science in physics such as the existence of subatomic particles. In Geography aspects such as the water cycle which is usually explained in modern physics is explained. The fact that wind impregnates clouds is also highlighted in Quraan.

Geological facts such as mountains are fixed are also brought out in the book. Facts such as existence of barriers between sweet and salt waters and the existence of darkness in the depths of the depths of the ocean are some of the Oceanological facts highlighted in the Quraan. The book also covers other areas of modern science such as medicine, biology, zoology, botany, physiology, embryology among others and shows a highly degree of compatibility of the facts highlighted with the various disciplines of modern science.

Most of the verses on the subject had not been expounded on. In the recent past a lot of emphasis has been put to appreciate the verses fully. Due to lack of proper scientific awareness, improper translations & commentaries it had been extremely difficult to interprate the verses. The urge to get information on embryology began long ago during the times of prophet Muhammad when questions were asked extensively on the verses relating to human production and embryology. The Hadith literature is used as the basis of answers of the Apostle.

Different Islamic scholars have done several translations of some of the verses in the Quraan touching on this subject matter. Sheikh Abdul Majid Zendani, a great professor of Islamic studies in one of the leading universities in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) is one of such scholars. He translated the statement from Sura 39:6.

Information on illustration of foetus development in the womb is equally documented to have been drawn by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th Century. It is also documented that Galen described the placenta and the development of foetus in one of his books called On the Formation of the Foetus. This was done far much earlier in the 2th century AD.

It is also well recorded in history that doctors in the 7th century A.D. knew very well that the foetus developed in the womb. Earlier explanations of the same had been provided by Aristotle in the 4th century B.C. Details into the development of the foetus was given far much later in the 15th century from the records available. However, more was discovered upon the discovery of the microscope in the 17th century by Leeuwenhoek. This made it easier to provide clear descriptions on the early stages of development of the foetus. Final descriptive explanations came in 1941 when Streeter developed the first system of staging. The most comprehensive explanation was given by O’Rahilly in 1972: he described the three stages of human development as to be confined to the anterior abdominal wall, uterine wall and then the amniochorionic membrane.

Sura 23:13 is equally a verse on the human development and embryology. It focuses on the zygote which later splits to form a blastocyst which then implanted in the uterus where it develops into a human being. Sura 23:14 is equally interpreted and is another important verse on the subject matter. It describes the human embryo from the days 7-24 when it usually clings to the endometrium of the uterus. The Sura describes in details the development of the foetus as compared to the verses.

Sura 32:9 describes the development the human senses. It describes the development in a certain order i.e. the appearance of the appearance of the primordial of the internal ears first followed by the eyes and lastly the brain differentiates.

Sura 22:5 illustrates that the embryo is mainly composed of differentiated and undifferentiated tissues. The tissues described are the mesechyme and the cartilage bones. The mesechyme usually differentiates later into the muscles and ligaments. The verse also acknowledges the fact that God determines which embryo would stay in the uterus till full term and whether it will be a boy or a girl.

The science of modern embryology has facilitated to a great extent the understanding of the verses in the Quraan on embryology and human development. The science has afforded many followers of prophet Muhammad a new understanding of the subject matter.

Time is a precious to all the races of man all over the world. The most successful individuals and nations of the world are on record for their proper utilization of the time they had. There is therefore need to have an incisive analysis of the ingredients of time management. These keynotes are the main tools that enhance proper time management. The tools are equally affirmed in the holy Quraan in some the verses. As a matter of fact time management encompasses typical functions of planning, organizing, directing, control of activities and making decisions.

Planning of time determines where the organization is now and where it will be in the future. It calls for participation, sense of direction and purpose, coordination and control. This is a very important key note of proper time management especially for firms. Planning has several benefits such as provision of direction, reducing the impact of change in an individual’s of institutions status; minimizing wastes and redundancy especially in firms and it also helps set the standards of control for different unexpected events. This is also brought out in the Quraan from verses 43-49.

Defining objective is equally brought in the Quraan; verse 22. This involves defining the mission that is the purpose of the task to be carried out. Proper time management begins with clearly defining the mission. For organizations there would be need to have a mission statement which is the broad, yet clear and concise summary of what the organization wants to do. This helps direct the organization since it directs major functions and operations.

Establishing priorities is equally a vital component of proper time management. Upon definition of the goals that one needs to accomplish there is need to conduct in order of their importance and urgency. This helps in saving time.

Investment all the valuable resources at ones disposal is also key for proper time management. These are utilities that can accelerate the achievement the tasks that one needs to do. This is brought in the verses 15, 32, 33 and 34 of the Quraan. One needs to mobilize all the resources that can enable him accomplish the intended tasks timely.

There is also need to take legitimate measures to ensure proper time management. The objectives cannot be met without inputs of efforts and measures to investing all the valuable resources into achieving the intended tasks. This is highlighted in verse 60 of the holy Quraan.

Organizing of all the work is very key for proper time management. It is usually considered as the basic management function of time. All activities to be done should be identified and grouped into tasks and sub-tasks. Each task should them be assigned an individual and a specific deadline for its completion.

Directives have also be given for proper and timely completion of tasks. This is done by those in management positions. They also have exercise authority and control the activities being undertaken. This enhances the proper time management. The decisions made are equally critical for good time management. They should be in line with the defined objectives.

These components of time management are affirmed in the holy Quaran and are therefore directives from the most high God. They are meant to guide in proper utilization of the little time we have.

by Muhammad Nâsir ad-Dîn al-Albânî

From that which has been established in the Sharee’ah (prescribed law) is that mankind was – in the beginning – a single nation upon true Tawheed, then Shirk (directing any part or form of worship, or anything else that is solely the right of Allah, to other than Allah) gradually overcame them. The basis for this is the saying of Allah – the Most Blessed, the Most High:

“Between Nooh (Noah) and Adam were ten generations, all of them were upon Sharee’ah (law) of the truth, then they differed. So Allah sent prophets as bringers of good news and as warners.” [2]

I say: In it is also a refutation of some of the philosophers and atheists who claim that the (natural) basis of man is Shirk, and that Tawheed evolved in man! The preceeding aayah (verse) falsifies this claim, as do the two following authentic hadith:

Firstly: His (the prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saying that he related from his Lord (Allah)

Secondly: He (the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said

There is to be no change to the creation (Religion) of Allah.” [Ar-Rum 30 :30] [Related by Al-Bukhaaree (11/418) and Muslim (18/52)]

After this clear explanation, it is of the upmost importance for the Muslim to know how Shirk spread amongst the believers, after they were muwahhideen (people upon Tawheed). Concerning the saying of Allah – the most perfect – about the people of Nooh:

Transliteration: Waqaloo la tatharunna alihatakum wala tatharunna waddan wala suwaAAan wala yaghootha wayaAAooqa wanasran
It has been related by a group from the Salaf (Pious Predecessors), in many narrations, that these five deities were righteous worshippers. However, when they died, Shaytaan (Satan) whispered into their people to retreat and sit at their graves. Then Shaytaan whispered to those who came after them that they should take them as idols, beautifying to them the idea that you will be reminded of them and thereby follow them in righteous conduct. Then Shaytaan suggested to the third generation that they should worship these idols besides Allah – the most high – and he whispered to them that this is what their forefathers used to do!!!

So Allah sent to them Nooh alayhis-salaam, commanding them to worship Allah alone. However none responded to his call except a few. Allah – the mighty and majestic – related this whole incident in Soorah Nooh Ibn ‘Abbas relates:

عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما:….أسماء رجال صالحين من قوم نوح، فلما هلكوا أوحى الشيطان إلى قومهم: أن انصبوا إلى مجالسهم التي كانوا يجلسون أنصابا وسموها بأسمائهم، ففعلوا، فلم تعبد، حتى إذا هلك أولئك، وتنسخ العلم عبدت

Indeed these five names of righteous men from the people of Nooh. When they died Shataan whispered to their people to make statues of them and to place these statues in their places of gathering as a reminder of them, so they did this. However, none from amongst them worshipped these statues, until when they died and the purpose of the statues was forgotten. Then (the next generation) began to worship them. [Related by al-Bukhaaree (8/534)]

The likes of this has also been related by Ibn Jareer at-Tabaree and others, from a number of the salaf (Pious Predecessors) – radiallaahu ‘anhum. In ad-Durral-Manthoor (6/269): ‘Abdullaah ibn Humaid relates from Abu Muttahar, who said:

Yazeed ibn al-Muhallab was mentioned to Abu Ja’far al-Baaqir (d.11H), so he said: He was killed at the place where another besides Allah was first worshipped. Then he mentioned Wadd and said: “Wadd was a Muslim man who was loved by his people. When he died, the people began to gather around his grave in the land of Baabil (Babel), lamenting and mourning. So when Iblees (Satan) saw them mourning and lamenting over him, he took the form of a man and came to them, saying : I see that you are mourning and lamenting over him. So why don’t you make a picture of him (i.e. a statue) and place it in your places of gatherings so that you maybe reminded of him. So they said: Yes, and they made a picture of him and put in their place of gathering; which reminded them of him. When Iblees saw how they were (excessively) remembering him, he said : “Why doesn’t every man amongst you make a similar picture to keep in your own houses, so that you can be (constantly) reminded of him.” So they all said “yes”. So each household made a picture of him, which they adored and venerated and which constantly reminded them of him. Abu Ja’far said: “Those from the later generation saw what the (pevious generation) had done and considered that……..to the extent that they took him as an ilah (diety) to be worshipped besides Allah. He then said : «This was the first idol worshipped other than Allah, and they called this idol Wadd» [5]

Thus the wisdom of Allah – the Blessed, the Most High – was fulfilled, when he sent Muhammed sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam as the final prophet and made his Sharee’ah the completion of all divinely Prescribed Laws, in that He prohibited all means and avenues by which people may fall into Shirk – which is the greatest of sins. For this reason, building shrines over graves and intending to specifically travel to them, taking them as places of festivity and gathering and swearing an oath by the inmate of a grave; have all been prohibited. All of these lead to excessiveness and lead to the worship of other than Allah – the Most High.

This being the case even more so in an age in which knowledge is diminishing, ignorance is increasing, there are few sincere advisors (to the truth) and Shaytaan is co-operating with men and jinn to misguide mankind and to take them away from the worship of Allah alone – the Blessed, the Most High.

4. [From the Editors] Ibn-al-Atheer said in an-Nihaayah (3/457): “Al-Fitr: means to begin and create, and al-Fitrah is the condition resulting from it. The meaning is that mankind were born upona disposition and a nature which is ready to accept the true Religion. So if he were to be left upon this, then he would continue upon it. However, those who deviate from this do so due to following human weaknesses and blind following of others…..” Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajar said in Al-Fath (3/248): “The people differ concerning what is meant by al-Fitrah and the most famous saying is that it means Islaam. Ibn ‘abdul-Barr said: That is what was well known with most of the salaf (pious predecessors), and the scholars of tafseer are agreed that what is meant by the saying of Allaah – the Most High – “Allaah’s fitrah wiht which He created mankind.” is Islaam
However, no biography could be found for him, neither in ad-Dawlaabee’s al-Kunaa wal-Asmaa, nor Muslim’s al-Kunaa, nor any one elses. And the hidden defect here is that he is from the Shee’ah, but his biography is not included in at-Toosee’s al-Kunaa — from the index of Shee’ah narrators.

A ban on saying prayers in the street, a practice by French Muslims unable to find space in mosques, has come into effect in the capital, Paris.

Interior Minister Claude Gueant has offered believers the use of a disused fire brigade barracks instead.

The phenomenon of street prayers, which see Muslims spreading mats on footpaths, became a political issue after far right protests.

France is home to the biggest Muslim minority in Western Europe.

By some estimates, as many as six million French people, or just under 10% of the population, are Muslims, with origins in France’s former North African colonies.

Their integration has been a source of political debate in recent years, and earlier this year France became the first EU state to ban the wearing of the Islamic veil in public.
‘Mosques co-operating’

Prayers at the former fire brigade barracks Many worshippers have been positive about the new space

The new ban came into force at midnight (22:00 GMT) on Thursday, in time for traditional Muslim Friday prayers.

Speaking earlier this week to Le Figaro, Mr Gueant said about 1,000 people were using two streets in the capital’s multi-ethnic Goutte d’Or district for prayers.

He said an agreement had been reached with two local mosques for the state to rent out the disused barracks on Boulevard Ney with floorspace of 2,000 sq m (yds) for three years.

To encourage believers to use the new space, prayers would not be held inside the existing mosques for the first few weeks.

He said he did not believe force would have to be used to impose the ban because dialogue was “bearing fruit”.

An overseer at the barracks said the space, with a capacity of 2,000, was full.

“It’s the beginning of a solution,” Sheikh Mohammed Salah Hamza told Reuters news agency. “The faithful are very pleased to be here. ”

“I think it’s great. It’s good. Before they used to pray outside and that wasn’t good at all,” Kaddar Abdelkader, who used to pray in the street, told the BBC.

Mr Gueant said similar problems with street prayers existed in two other cities, Marseille and Nice.

Far right protests at the “Islamisation” of the Goutte d’Or district began last year and in December the leader of the French National Front, Marine Le Pen, accused Muslim fundamentalists of using prayers for political ends.

She controversially compared the practice to the Nazi wartime occupation of France.

{And (Allah desires) that you should complete the period (of Fasting), and that you should magnify Allah (saying Allahu Akbar) for having guided you, and that peradventure you may be thankful.} (A-Baqarah 2: 185)

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, la il Llaha il Allah! Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa li Llah il-Hamd!

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest! Praise be to Allah! When Allah commands His servants to say “Allah is the Greatest” in Adhan (Call to Prayer), Prayer, and `Eid, and urges Muslims to wholeheartedly chant these sweet and beautiful words of praise and glory, that, despite of being soft on the tongue, are heavy on the scales (they command great reward on the Day of Judgment).

Allah is the Greatest; Allah is the Greatest! This is neither in vain nor in jest, but it is meant to implant in the hearts of the believers the essence of this religion, i.e., these words stress the fact that Allah is Omnipotent, and He is above anything else!

Allah is the Greatest! He is Greater than all tyrants who enslave the helpless people and infringe upon their rights, for they are weak and powerless.

Allah is the Greatest! His Might is above all psychological crises that overwhelm people, no matter how extensive these woes and crises are, even they become so mountainous to the extent of encompassing the whole earth and engulfing all souls, no matter how overwhelming people’s calamities are to the extent of making the vast universe seem as small as a circle of ring, nothing can relive them from these crises except deep belief in “Allah is the Greatest”!

Allah is the Greatest! He is Greater than all temporal lusts that disseminate mischief in the earth, spread chaos in the society, and tear apart people’s amity, cooperation, and solidarity. Nothing can curb these lusts except the belief in “Allah is the Greatest!”

Allah is the Greatest! He is Greater than all tyrants who enslave the helpless people and infringe upon their rights, for they are weak and powerless. Nothing can set these affairs in order except the belief in “Allah is the Greatest!” Here, we recall the Qur’anic verse that read, {And We desired to show favor unto those who were oppressed in the earth, and to make them examples and to make them the inheritors, and to establish them in the earth, and to show Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts that which they feared from them.} (Al-Qasas 28: 5-6)

Muslims! Oh you who declare in your Adhan, Prayer, and `Eds your true belief in “Allah is the Greatest!” Never faint, nor grieve, nor despair, nor weaken, nor give in. Surely, the earth is Allah’s, it does not belong to anyone except Him. He, Almighty, gives it for an inheritance to whom He will amongst His servants, and the sequel is for those who keep their duty (unto Him), not for the traitors, nor for the aggressors, nor for the tyrants, nor for the oppressors. Be confident in the fulfillment of Allah’s promise, for He never breaks His promise.

Ramadan comes to strengthen our hearts and endear us to piety, good morals, integrity, remembrance of Allah and acts of worship. It helps Muslims to achieve high levels of spirituality and steadfastness.

Ramadan is also a month of self-discipline. However, Ramadan is almost over now, so let’s ask ourselves: What impact did Ramadan have on us? Have we continued to perform our Prayers in the masjid regularly? Do we feel more inclined to read the Qur’an and ponder over its vast meanings? Are we still reading the Qur’an as regularly as we were during Ramadan?

Have we been able to give charity and lend a helping hand to those who need our assistance as we used to do during Ramadan? Or have we simply gone back to our previous lifestyle as if we had never witnessed Ramadan?

Now it is time for self assessment and reconsideration. We are asking: What kind of person have you become since Ramadan?

Feel free to share your contributions, feelings and experiences with us.
