Let us first know what actually Fast is. It is a state of not eating or drinking anything for a specific period of time. In Islam, it is form SAHAR to AFATR. The former refers to the morning time before twilight and the latter refers to the sunset time. Muslims observe fast in this specified time.

In holy Month of Ramadan, it is compulsory for the Muslims to observe Fasts, except for those who are unable to observe Fasts physically or because of some predefined reasons like being in a travel/journey.

Muslims observe fasts to make Allah happy by their good deeds and to ask for forgiveness of their sins. The main idea behind observing fasts is that keeping yourself hungry you are in a better position to understand the hunger and thirst of the poor and thus it creates goodwill.

It helps in making a better society where everyone cares for each other. Islam is the religion of peace and tolerance and observing fasts develop a habit of tolerance in people.

Muslims keep them selves away from the sins and bad deeds especially in the condition of fasts. As it is a necessary part of fats that one keeps a distance from the evil.

Moreover Muslims believe that satin is captured in the holy month of Ramadan and thus they have a better chance to do good deeds and get reward from Allah. Anyhow, the main idea remains the same that is to develop a better, pious and tolerant society.
